The YoBlendz chain of frozen yogurt shops likes to think that its swirly cups of happiness are the star of any visit, but the kids may be distracted at the grand opening of the new Weston store on Feb. 19. That’s because Bella Thorne, star of the Disney Channel’s top-rated “Shake it Up,” will be on hand to host and sign autographs.
The free, family-friendly event at 1378 Weston Road, in the Country Isles Plaza, runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with Thorne, who grew up in Pembroke Pines, visiting from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Plans include appearances by cheerleaders and mascots from South Florida teams, DJ, face painting, a balloon artist and bounce house.
Kids also can take part in the YoBlendz “Make It Your Way” frozen yogurt contest using the shop’s signature toppings, everything from mangos and strawberries to cookie dough and caramel. The most innovative treat — crowned by Thorne and YoBlendz founder Adam Ogden — wins its creator a photo with Bella and special prize package.
